Frequently Asked Questions
What CF treatments are being studied?
+
Studies include next-generation CFTR modulators, treatments for rare mutations not covered by current drugs, gene therapy and gene editing approaches, and anti-inflammatory treatments.
Do I need specific mutations to participate?
+
Some studies target specific mutations (like F508del), while others enroll patients with any CF-causing mutation. Knowing your genotype is required for all studies.
How is lung function monitored?
+
Spirometry is performed at most visits to measure FEV1 and other lung function parameters. Sputum cultures and sweat chloride testing are also commonly performed.
Can I continue my current CFTR modulator?
+
This depends on the study. Some trials evaluate new treatments in addition to current modulators, while others require switching. The study team will explain requirements.
