Frequently Asked Questions
What migraine treatments are being studied?
+
Current trials include new CGRP receptor antagonists (gepants), CGRP antibodies, novel acute treatments, and neuromodulation devices. Both preventive and acute treatment studies are available.
How do I track my migraines for the study?
+
You will use an electronic diary (usually a smartphone app) to record headaches, symptoms, and medication use daily. This diary is critical for measuring treatment response.
Can I continue my current migraine medications?
+
Acute rescue medications are typically allowed. Preventive medications usually need to be stopped before or during the study, depending on the specific protocol.
What outcome measures are used?
+
The primary measure is usually reduction in monthly migraine days. Studies also track headache intensity, medication use, and impact on daily functioning.
