Frequently Asked Questions

What osteoarthritis treatments are being studied?

+

Studies include nerve growth factor inhibitors, injectable therapies (new biologics, gene therapies), disease-modifying OA drugs, and regenerative approaches like stem cells.

Will I need X-rays or MRI during the study?

+

X-rays are typically required at screening and may be repeated during the study. Some studies use MRI to assess cartilage and joint structure in more detail.

Can I continue taking pain medications?

+

Most studies allow acetaminophen as rescue medication but require washout of NSAIDs. The specific pain medication requirements vary by protocol.

Are there studies involving injections?

+

Yes, many OA studies involve intra-articular (joint) injections of investigational treatments. These are typically performed by experienced physicians with ultrasound guidance.
